Hey Majorsdad, when I first joined the AF, I was a bomb loader and we loaded 20mm in aircraft cannons, they was big. Now, the 30mm, THAT'S a round. The 20mm (complete round), would drop into the case alone of the 30mm and disappear! And did you know that the A10 is the only airplane designed aound a gun.


It's also the only aircraft that has the nose gear off to one side of the aircraft centerline, that's because the barrels are I think 12 ft long and the ammo drum is about the size of a volkswagen beetle! A10 wartHOG

Yup, it's been used a little bit, but It sharpens up on (but the chips from hitting rocks are the pits to get out) my smith's course diamond hone pretty good and the chips CAN be gotten out when I feel the need to remove that much metal.
