hoping i can make some time during the rest of this year myself. if i get a nice rifle then i know the gun range would be okay but i'd like to be in the 200+ yard range.

Long range is fun!
I had a F Class benchrest rig setup for a couple years. Ended up letting it go since I had way too much tied up in it and was limited to 500 meters. At that range, a decent .308 or .223 can still be a ton of fun.

500 meters! man i would love to spend a day shooting that. if i could do 200-300 then i would be pretty satisfied.
