I want to expand on this some more - "stop an object from falling" is ill defined. If the object is already moving, the force required to decelerate it and then bring it to a stop will vary during these actions, and you start having to get into more unpleasant concepts like impulse if you want to try to clarify it.
So maybe school was too long ago or they told me the wrong thing. But if buoyancy is not included in the definition of weight, what unit SHOULD you use to demonstrate the lift capability of a zeppelin for example? That's the point - it IS included in the definition. So if you've got a pound of feathers and a pound of rocks, you've already included the buoyancy of the feathers in that pound, and so they weigh the same.

That's the point - it IS included in the definition. So if you've got a pound of feathers and a pound of rocks, you've already included the buoyancy of the feathers in that pound, and so they weigh the same. To put this another way (no pun intended)... Weight only has meaning in the conditions under which you measure it. If you take a pound of feathers and a pound of bricks as measured in a vacuum, then that weight only has meaning in vacuum. If you suddenly remove the vacuum and expose them to the atmosphere, they might suddenly have different weights, but you will no longer be comparing a pound of bricks and a pound of feathers, because those measurements you took in that other environment mean absolutely diddly in this new environment. Your confusion isn't surprising - there are two problems at work, one being that weight is a very tenuous concept that is used poorly in popular usage, and two being that, in their zeal to point out that weight isn't the same as mass, typical science teachers completely muck everything up and make it even more confusing than it already is.
I love my H&K USP, but I need something easier to carry on me (other than in my Maxped, that is!)
What do you all suggest? I've been eying the Glock 36. Nice pistol, they are about the size of a Glock 19 and use the same holster as a 19. The recoil on them is not that bad either. I carry a Glock 19 and love it! I carry a Browning HiPower. Accept no substitute.
I've owned a couple Hi-Powers over the years and it's a great gun, but it's no Glock.

I worked in a large gun store (12-15 thousand guns sold a year)for almost 5 years and sold more Glocks and had the fewest problems or complants from their owners. Plus, we were the largest law enforcement dealer in the state of Ohio, with over 70% of the departments buying Glocks. I will let that speak for itself.

If I wasn't able to get my H&K for such a good price I would have gotten a Glock 17.
They're great guns for sure.

I know Sig Sauer is a reliable gun, it just doesn't feel right in my hand.
Although, the gun that feels best in my hand is a classic 1911... but I still went for the USP. Go figure.
