What you want to do, to post a pic, is get yourself a free account on photobucket.com or something like that. Upload the picture. Then, when you're on photobucket's page, copy/paste the IMG tag to your post.
It will start with [ img] and end with [ /img] without the spaces.
So it will look like of like this:
[img ]pictureurl.jpg[/url ]
again, without the spaces.
