Here's what I'm (ostensibly) thinking about, right now:

Is everything we do fundamentally imitative/derivative, a tweak or addition built upon what has come before?

I know that many seem to think so, and I know that a lot of what we do is, but I am doubting the assertion that everything, or even most, is.

I agree not everything, the Beatles would disagree.

There are certainly new things being done. Some themes are ever reoccuring and always will. The basics.

I think there is an infinitely large space of possibilities in regard to what we think, say, create, do, etc., and I think that, through a variety of mechanisms, we stumble into this new frontier often, and do so in ways that fundamentally are not based upon previous work.
