I had a NovaTac EDC 120P and it was way brighter than my SF Backup and waterproof to boot. That is the extent of my "high" end flashlights though. I've got a Nova 120P, one of my favorite lights (I have about 20) When I got a little bored with it I threw a polished crenellated bezel on it with 3 tritium inserts and a 120T O-ring grip. Here's a pic of it next to a Ra light: ![[Linked Image from img.villagephotos.com]](http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2007-2/1243459/IMG_1576.jpg)

That is very nice! If I run across a good deal on one I might dump the Backup and get it.

For that matter the regular 120T would suit me just fine too.

What's the Ra? I prefer that texture over the one on the fenix.

The modded stuff is dangerous. I would probably blind myself if I got something of that level. I worry more about battery explosions <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> Those L-ions are like grenades when then get upset The new ones are a different chemistry and are safer but at the tradeoff of reduced energy stored. The ones I have can delivery 10C or more though. That's how I can get over 1,000 lumens to come out of a SureFire 3 cell sized light.

I've swam with my Backup and NT 120p, both survived but the Backup made me nervous.

Wow, 1000 lumens! Crazy.
The EDC was bright enough for me and the battery life was insane.

What's the Ra? I prefer that texture over the one on the fenix. Ra lights is the new name of HDS Systems flashlight series. Henry of HDS partnered with Novatac to create the Nova lights and then Henry and Nova split up and Henry created a new line, called Ra. The Ra lights are similar in size to the Novas but the build is different. Henry says the Ra lights are the most efficient ones made. The one I had was a "CLicky" from a passaround and I had it for 3 days only. I liked the Nova a little better but I would like to get a Ra Twisty, which is probably one of the most bulletproof lights on the planet. Just go to RaLights.com

Grenades huh...Should we be worried/reporting you...? Believe me, any explosions are unintentional. I've never had a L-ion explode but I did have a Lithium primary AA, over the counter explode on me. It was a cheaper brand and not Made in the US or Japan. I almost lost my eye. I was looking into the LED trying to figure out why it would not work. My wife called me and I moved the light down to look at her. About 1 second later the battery vented rapidly and shot the head of the minimag across the room. Needless to say, I only use Energizer Lithiums now. The L-ion batteries are relatively safe as long as the voltage stays in an accepatable range, never higher than 4.200V. A good charger and voltage meter go a long way.
