Since I stayed in lab until after 9pm yesterday, I decided I deserved a break this morning, so I stayed home to take care of some work around the house....

oh yeah, I also snapped some pics of my new grail knife <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

And it's SNAKESKIN!

On flashlights,
I have a Surefire G2Z (aluminum head) with a Cree 5 upgrade. It is putting out 220 lumens for a decent distance about a 100 yds + in city light enviornment. In fact, it is on my go to Colt 6921, but I really want something a little less bright, maybe in the 130 lumen, to use in the house on confined areas. 220 lumens bouncing off a white wall will put some hurt on your night vision (human eye night vision). I unfortunately live in a state where hunting at night is a no go especially with night vision optic. If I lived in TX, I would be all over it!

Sumo, check out the M60L, M60LF, M60WL, and M60WLF from Malkoff Devices. The (W)arm versions put out 100 real out-the-front lumens and the standard ones put out 140 lumens. They run for over 4 hours at the rated output and then a little longer as the output diminishes. These modules are fully potted and will take repeated impacts, like those received while attached to a firearm. Malkoff has some patents including one regarding the shape of the module. If you go to the website can you see that the shape of the module allows it to make substantial contact with the body of the flashlight in order to heat sink the LED. I have two of these modules used in lights that absolutely have to work when called upon. I would trust them at least as much as a SureFire module, if not more. I have the Warm/Flood versions, which are good up close lights, within 25 yards or maybe more. The non-flood versions, which I have owned before, go a lot further, about 2-3 times further than the flood versions. The modules are pricey but worth it IMO, I tried a couple different variations before settling on the ones I got and I sold the others for what I paid. BTW, Gene and his wife are nice people. He will take his time to explain things and help you find the best module for the intended use.

Lol, I should make a list of things to bring everytime.

I usually pack after I get out of the shower...I load whatever I take as I get ready/put on. You never forget anything you have to have that way.

I appreciate the heads up, will look into the Malkoff lamps when the green comes together.
