by the same token, the cheaper than dirt knife you owned took more than mine by a long shot because mine failed with the first two hits, but the way the ranger snapped, I'll always question that one.

I don't think I have ever done anything to any knife that compares to Noss' testing. Under my uses, the Rangers I own have all held up well. But if I break one tomorrow I can assure you it was not on purpose. Noss tests knives to their breaking point. He gets what he gets. I have no doubt that his tests are honest. I test them doing stuff most folks might actually do with their knives. I have only broken a couple. If you want to see how tough a knife is, look at Noss' tests, not mine.

The link came down after I completed the D-test. I had an upcoming knife test section at one time. They get moved after a test is completed.

Keep up the good work...You will take some crap from folks just because it's impossible to make everyone happy, but i think you do the knife community a great service and I, for one, appreciate it. I like your test also Noss. and enjoy them very much. I just had an issue with that one test, only because a 5160 spring rate will cycle 8,000 times on average before failure in a controlled environment.

This goes back to the ranger test. Some of the ranger fans said I rigged it. They were mad. They were mad the CTD knife out did it. Your playing just like they did. In fact your read all of that stuff. I'm not wasting my time with a phony.

Oh and there is a third option why the knife failed. It didn't have enough lateral strength to support my weight.

HT, Tempering, cryo or any other treatments can affect the hardness/brittleness of the steel FC. So can anomalies in the steel. Even though the same steel is used...there can be differences between blades. But i know it's hard to watch a knife you really had respect for fail like that. Many had the same feelings when the Chris Reeves knife failed. I don't beat my knives that hard so if they take half of what Noss puts them through they will be fine for my uses. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

No Noss I'm not a ranger fan, in fact for personal reasons between Justin and I. I wont be shopping there anymore.

Why should I publish it? to be a target like you are? if your gonna put yourself out there, then be an adult and take criticism from others. make your tests more controlled if you want to be 100% fool proof believed.

I could care less if every single ranger you tested failed miserably, and No there are only two options why it failed, your third is based on number one option, the knife could have had a bad HT. that simple......

And there are only three peoples ways I trust with HT.....Jerry, Norm, and Paul.
