So I'm doing some holiday shopping, and am thinking of picking up a few of these for family:

Supposed to be one of the longest-throwing 2xAA lights on the market. Cool <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Also thinking about the Javelin for myself, and some cheaper lights for gifts <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

I feel like the throwing power of the Javelin would be wasted on folks who are still carrying AA Maglites.

I've got a couple of pretty bright lights, but the Javelin head has a pretty deep reflector, and with a $5 replacement smooth reflector, you can pull 10k lux. That's some SERIOUS throw out of a 2xAA light. Even better, it's compatible with some other flashlight bodies, so there's a single CR123A version that has the same output in a pocket-sized form. It should be able to throw several hundred yards.

I think I just talked myself into getting the CR123A version. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif" alt="" />

Just sold my M9LE... will be very sad to see that one go. Will be slightly less sad when its replacement, the bushwacker mistress, shows up.

The recoating is a no-go, I'll have to send it back in some day down the line if I want bama clay. I ended up going with muddy and tan canvas micarta.
