MM, that was my experience with the M9LE. Not bad, but not great.

That is true Mr. Walker. I have heard of guys shooting corrosive ammo and not cleaning out in the desert. If they did that in OK they would have a sewer pipe or tomato stake.

I actually love the knife - in fact it's one of my favorite brush clearing chopping splitting tools, but I grab the SoD or CS LTC Kukri a lot more often because I know I can just chuck them back into their sheaths without messing with them.

Man, I find myself looking at 1911's again. I have had some nice ones but for some reason I want a semi-custom one without the cocking serreations on a lot of the guns coming from the makers today.

I want a Kukri, but I don't have anyone around here to try one out. The only ones I have seen are the cheap Indian imports or old ones that are coming apart.

Fireproof socks, where did that come from? I wondered the same thing last night. Evolute started that thread.

Well guys, it was good to chat tonight. I will try to make it by a few more times this week. Take care, and just think--it is a great time not to be a TURKEY!

The cold steel kukri machete is based on the blade shape of the LTC kukri, which is one of the most efficient chopping and slashing blades I have ever held. The LTC EASILY outchops knives that weigh twice as much. You won't get quite as good performance out of the cheap machete version, but for 20 or 30 bucks you can get a feel for just how awesome a properly shaped kuk style blade can perform.
And you can also appreciate how a thin, light blade can be a better chopper than the big, thick, ridiculously heavy Busse stuff.

I found the Cold Steel one for less than 20 bucks. I'm very tempted to get it.
