Hey Bushy, I have ran acros some very resinous yellow pine while cutting up some 2/4 boards. Would that qualify as fatwood?

if its kiln dried wood, i would have to say no....most likely just a patch of resin in the wood...... fatwood develops when the tree dies off, is broken, or cut. The roots keep sending up the sap thru the wood fibers (cappilaries). The tree rots away over a large number of years and the resin inpregnated wood stays behind. If you find a pine tree rotted away in the woods, kick it apart until all the loose crap is gone , then pull out the stuff remaining. Yeah, kiln dried and actually it was a 2x8. Gummed up the scroll saw blade (10teeth to the inch) I figured is wasn't fatwood, but I can always hope!
I AM gonna have to sign off for now, it'a about 0730 so the day folks will probably start wandering in sometime pretty quick.

Ok, just one more LAST post just for you.
Been doing this for 16 years this coming January. Prior that, 20 years in the Air Force. So I've only had 2 jobs in the last we'll just say 36 years! Sure am glad folks pay their taxes!

Wow guys- that is a BUNCH of jobs <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />. I worked my way through engineering school- graduated and had about 5 jobs in the engineering field. Then I found that I just couldn't work for others and started my own business. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> Here I am at 58 years old ( semi retired) - raised 4 children and put them through college-and now employ 3 of them !! 8 grandkids <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />!! Life is great - but 60 jobs ( ouch) that might make you old all by itself <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />!!
