I just got my "sorry, that position is filled" letter from a job I applied for several months ago.

Job searching in the academic world SUCKS - a typical faculty position in physics will have 200-300 applications. Of those, four or five will be brought in for interviews. It usually takes around four months to find out whether you got an interview or not. The entire application process can take six months to a year.

That's why I'm running the hell away from academia.

I applied for a position at the local university, it took 2 weeks to get an email stating they had received the application. Then it was another 2 months before I received another saying I had not been chosen. Lol, sigh, that was along time ago though. Onward I say!

Well, I'm going to run some errands and maybe I will have time to look at some guns I can't afford!

just got back from a job interview, didn't go as well as I hoped. i know it's tough out there and being a fresh college graduate without experience doesn't help...hopefully I get called back for a 2nd interview and do better.

on a plus, i came home to a stack of boxes that, once assembled, will be my drum set.

off to try and figure out how these come together before dinner.

I'm not great with interviews either, and on top of that he asked a lot of question I didn't know how to answer clearly.

Nice Mag, is this your first drum set? Someday I have to learn how to play the guitar. I don't expect to be great, but I just want to jam or attempt to cover a song I like. Before my friend moved back to Minnesota, I use to hang out at his place while his band practiced, they had some awesome material.
