You know, just breathing in some cities now days is hazardous to your health. When I was stationed in Japan (on the outskirts of Tokyo) there was this one area that was so bad your eyes would actually burn from all the pollution in in the air. It was of course in a low lying area so everything either stayed there or filtered down cause it was heavier than the air. i never has sinus problems until I got back to the States from there. Yeah, disgusting isn't it? I lived in Toronto for several years. During the worst times in the summer visibility might have been half a mile at the absolute most. Air would turn a rusty red color. Was really lousy and made it feel like you had asthma.

Managed to get a great deal on an old Lincoln arc welder here in town. Big old industrial beast from an estate sale. Sold as is where is and not working. Brought it home and it fired right up!

I don't know how much truth there is to it, but I was told that in Japan 90% of the people live in just 10 percent of the area. If you get away from the industrial (large cities) though it is Beautiful. I rode a bicycle while I was there (put about 5000 miles on one in 2 years) and we would ride up into the mountains and the streams and temples were fantastic. Just like some of the pictures you see. And No, stupid me, I never climed Mt. Fuji but I could see it on an really clear day, which were rare from my barracks room window.

Wasn' that you that said you had to do some re-wireing to get it wired up the way you wanted? Yeah my Dad has an old it IS from the 50' welder, where you pull out the lead wires and put them in different holes to vary your levels. It's a big old round heavy sucker, and does not make ANY noise. he had to wire a light to it so he could tell if he remembered to turn it off or not.
