Yep, we have the NHS so they'll even stitch 'em back on for free!

Rub it in, Paul. Hitlery Clinton will save us.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Almost took my thumb off with my SH-BM. I had to patch that mess up myself. Hurt like a B----!

In defense of the sharpmaker on this, I have been using one on my old swamprats without any damage to the convex edge. In fact, at a 40 deg angle, the rods only are touching the very edge of the blade. Very little comes in contact with the rods at all. The benefits of a convex grind are not compromised. I love my sharpmaker. Keeps my D2 bog dog so sharp it will take the hairs off a flea's back. It also can get my battle rat much sharper than it needs to be as a big chopper.
Just my 2 cents.

I use a 1x30 sander as well. I have belts going up to ~2000 grit and then a leather 1x30 belt for honing.

It gets things very sharp! Quick passes and the blade doesn't head up.

I have not been able to find belts that fine.
