It works well! I have been playing with it on a number of my knives.

I'm going to pick up a leather strop in a few days for the CGFBM. I read up on it a little - should be easy to keep her razor sharp w/ one of them!

Let me know what kind you get and how it works.

Read the packaging on the hone compound carefully and buy the good stuff! The particle size can vary and be advertised as "average of...." which means it is coarser than you think.

It works very well.. I noticed on my CGFBM that it has the Busse "wire edge", so I will give it a quick strop to remove and it should even be sharper.!

Hmm, wonder if I was pushing down to hard when 'mouse-mat'ing previously.. I'll leave off reprofiling my DF for a while and try the paper again on it. (My S6 and SS4 are set to Lansky 25 degrees v grind now.)

When you are finishing the edge, let the weight of the knife do the work. The less pressure, the better the edge, however it takes longer.

As the idea of v grinding my DF by hand fills me with dread, I'm willing to invest time in the sand paper!

Plus a chopper that size NEEDS a super strong convex edge, my S6 doesn't so much.

Thanks. I picked up a regular leather strop today, but they didn't have any compound - so I can't get started yet! Any suggestions on a compound? I may just order one online...
