back in I think LATE 94 or early 95 I got an L1A1 that Ain't to bad. I paid $450.00 for it and it now has the FN buttstock and a flash hider on it. With the 20 round mags, it would scare the Sheeple into staining their wool Brown!

You know, I was just thinking. We have talked about what rifle, handgun etc, cheap ammo...etc. BUT MAYBE what we should consider what is popular IN OUR AREA! For instance, let's just say 300 mag is popular out west. Here where I live it would be a LOUSY CHOICE, that caliber is not popular around here. Now 30.30 and .308 and some other (small bore) cals are everywhere.

Personally I think the .308 IS better than the ak/sks round, it't the ACTION that is like the energizer bunny, not the round. BUT being smaller, you can carry more for the same weight.
