I think i just need to spend a uncomfortable amount on ammo and accessories for what I have. A trip to the range is past due. I want a stock for my 500 and a couple 30 round mags for my FiveSeven. Maybe that will buy me some time until I can find what I'm wanting.

Whats up Yote. I got that SBL today. I am really liking it so far. The guy threw in two boxes of the Hornady Leverevelution ammo in too!
Thats great, I know you'll love the rifle. I always wanted a 45/70 but I'll live with a 450 marlin. If the SBL was out when I bought my timber, I would have bought the Sbl I think

I took care of that today with picking up a Marlin 1895 SBL guide gun. No money now. Sure hope Dan holds off a little longer for a new release. If not, will figure something out.

I was askin my dealer today about a marlin lever in .357. Since I read that post about a rifle in a pistol round I have looked at everything I could find. He suggested a Puma. Good thing he sold the Marlin he had in the store. I forgot to ask him about it because I was talking about the M1A.

If you go with a Puma or any of the Winchester 92 actions there is a guy that has a dvd on how to slick them up. Basically he is a cowboy action smith that hasfigured the quircks out and makes a nice rifle. Me, I like the Marlin because it offers the ability to go with a scout scope. The scout scope or Aimpoint makes the lever gun a serious viable weapon.
I love my marlin in 44 remmag, great little camp/deer rifle

What kind of stock? I got to shoot a Knoxx Comp Stock on a 500 and liked it except the pg kept the safety from being used easily. Now they have a regular stock too. It made shooting 3" slugs feel like a pheasant load.

I think I am going to plop a Aimpoint on top of the rail tomorrow for giggles. I might really like it and keep it that way, or look for a Burris Timberland or pistol scope for a little more up close look.

I am really liking the looks of the socom type stocks. At this point I would stick one on anything i could. The 500 ar adapter And stock would run me close to what I spent on the 500 so I haven't been in any rush to do it.

Not mine but I like this stock and forend setup.

How do you manipulate the safety on top? Or is yours a Maverick with the push button safety on the trigger guard?

My safety is on top. I acutally don't like that rail but had never even though about the safety. I like it even less now but it's included in the package price for that ar stock adapter.

I don't use a scope on my traditional lever actions (leupold sits on my win model 88). I like simplicity, however I can't argue with someone putting on a scope. I remember about 15 years ago hunting mulies in the woods, it was getting late, only had about 1/2 hour left of legal shooting time. A deer crests a hill about 75 yards away, it was buck only in season. I could not see if he had antlers or not. Had my little 44 on him, but just couldn't tell, when he turned his head I brought up my binoculars and could see he was a spike. He then looked back at me then walked off before I could lower the binoculars and shoot. If the rifle had a scope on it, he would have been mine
