We moved here from sotheren California about two years ago. Building a house in the country. Can't do that in So Cal unless your Bill Gates. Bors Definately alot of country in Missouri. My Uncle has baout 500 acres of forested area on his farm. Beautiful area! Yep... it's beginning to disapear but their is still alot just depends on where your at. A lot of subdividing and building going on. Bors

Doesn't upset me at all. Here, Brantley Co. is the butt of such jokes. The family tree of those folks is a palm. The way you compliment a Brantley girl is to say, "Hey babe, nice tooth."
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Dan - I don't think you upset anyone, rather give credit to those who have the good sense to live in the country. That said, when are you moving to Missouri ?!!? Tom

By the way I am still drooling over you daughters jeeps! How do they handle offroad... I know it is a jeep but I have never driven one myself.
How much off roading have you done with them? Are they roomy?

Dan - you are certainly right about development in the country. That is exactly what has happened to Branson. When I vacationed in the area back in the sixties, Branson was really a nice, rural area with lots of country and very little traffic. Now it is just one tourist draw after another, and the traffic is terrible! It has transitioned from a quaint little country town to just another crowded tourist trap. Even though I am only two hours away, I avoid Branson and their "attractions". Tom

The Forest Preserves in our area..... The only green way that Chicago has and one of the only cities to have one has very crappy funding... So what do they want to do? Sell of sections.... Obviously PRESERVE means nothing. I am so pissed about this! People need to be more aware of the loss of country because it is happening to quickly. And the people around here need to be aware of the fact that this is a unique environment that will disappear quickly to money grubbing bastards! Also th immigration increase does not help because it pushes others out of the citiy into the suburbs and in turn pushes them out into the country. The whole [censored] thing makes me sick and I am glad for the fact that I am able to document what I find because even the local archaeologists don't care... The only care if there is a road to be built... The don't TRY to even find these spots for research.... WHILE they still exist. They just moan that it is disappearing ! The whole thing makes me sick! Rant off. So, when are you moving to Missouri ?
That is just ONE of the things I hated about the Chicago area, a.k.a. "the Peoples' Republik of Daleystan" !!! Sounds like some of the Aldermen like "Fast Eddie Vrdolyak" want to get their hands on some land, so that they can turn around and sell it to the City at a greatly inflated price. Politicians - their greed knows no bounds !!!

I actually would move to Missouri or even where Vic lives. My wife however does not want to live in the country. Not an outside girl. She does not know what she is missing!!

Sounds like you need to take your wife on a nice, relaxing vacation in the country, such as a fishing resort area. Check with the Chamber of Commerce for things she might be interested in, such as flea markets, shopping, etc. She may appreciate the more relaxed life-style and friendliness of folks in the country the more she experiences it.
