The country and nature bring back sanity. My favorite response to people who question where I live: Civilization is overrated. It sure is. Or, at least what passes for civilization nowadays-- some metrosexual, technogeek, pseudo-intellectual, mass consumerist, pop cultural noise that numbs the senses and clutters the mind. The further away from it I can get, the better I feel and the clearer I think.
