I solved that flaking problem by ording Satin finish on the rest of my Rangers.

I'll be on later too - gotta go to the store w/ my wife in a few minutes when she gets off work...

How are ya Gravelface?

That blue color was kind of a fluke. The next time I did it I just got a blacker color... then, I realized that what I had done the first time was apply the blueing, and then sprayed "liquid wrench" directly on top of the bluing before rinsing... so thats what the secret was I gues..

Busy with the wee one...she seems to have a stomach ug and puked in her bed and is now lying on the couch watching Lilo and Stitch with intermitten bouts of vomitting!

The 2nd time I did it (after the first time I used it, it scuffed up the bluing ever so slightly, and I wanted to see how easy touchups were...)

So this is what it looks like now.

I think some of the cold blue kits leave a real gunmetal blue. I thought surface prep was one of the things that affected color.

I guess that liquid wrench lightened it up then. I wish I knew why.
