Yeah, had a couple good days here and tried to get out one of them, then the Jeep ALMOST completely layed down and died.

Bummer! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> We are lucky on the vehicle front as we don't do a lot of driving unless necessary. However, my dentist sure loves me! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif" alt="" />

Oh hey, one bit of good news, the wife is now walking with a cane just some of the time. She is mostly gimping around the house without her walker or the cane! Hooray for her!

What dentist don't love us? Anyway, Long story short, the Jeep didn't have any power when accelerating. One guy said the cat was bad. It wasn't. Another guy said Fuel pump. Took the tank off, got a fuel pump, wrong pump. Back to the parts store. Got a different pump, It wouldn't fit. Come to find out, the jeep has the old style pump bracket. The pump manuf said to modify the bracket (just hog out a 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch groove) worked like a champ. Put it in, tank back up, pump spun up, No gas at the engine! Took the tank back down, everyone said maybe hose is kinked. NOPE! A friend hade a Brain storm. Reversed the wires to the pump. Put tank back on (after testing the pump this way) hit the key, started up in about 3 seconds!!!!! HORRAY, OH HAPPY DAY!!!

I'm glad for you - I really don't enjoy working on vehicles unless ABSOLUTELY necessary! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbdn.gif" alt="" /> The last car repair was done at a garage - the water pump went out. That used to be a pretty easy repair, but on the wife's car the pump is located behind the timing chain! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> They had to pull the engine. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif" alt="" />

Oh, what made the jeep not working so bad is the fact that our car is down for a brake job and probably replacement of the stearing system (rack and pinion). When you turn to the left, it sticks or binds up and you have to power past it, not difficult but it does jerk the car just a mite.

Yup, I remember when a backyard mechanic could work on a vehicle and fix almost any part of it. Now, you have a hard time just finding the part once you know what't broken! But I can now R/R a 1990 Jeep cherokee gas tank in about an hour!

If I ever get a 1990 Jeep needing that repair I'll let you know. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Yeah, a mechanic told me it wasn't TO dangerous. But, if it's hanging up or sticking in one spot, what's to keep it from sticking period, and not letting the wheels turn. THAT would not be good.
