it's not too conspicuous... and definitely not legal! Depends on what state you're in. Indiana has no knife restrictions whatsoever except on switchblades and ninja stars. Very knife friendly.

Andy - If you keep talking like that GF may move to your state! Yup, you can carry any size knife, open or concealed. You could carry a Busse AK47 if you like. Good gun laws too. You can get a lifetime gun carry permit here. It's $100 I think...and you don't have to pass any tests or anything, just have a clean record. And you can also carry your handgun open or concealed - your choice. Indiana is soundin' better and better, huh.

Just wondering... How many of you opted for the LE version? Did you do it for looks, for 'collector' status of the LE,or.....? I haven’t ordered yet. I can’t afford it, but will as soon as I can. I was struggling with the decision of which knife to get. At first I was thinking I’d get an LE. But then I was worried about rusting. I know it rusts easier than SR101, and I have a hard enough time keeping SR101 clean and waxed. I was thinking an LE might be nice cause it’s more “special”, but then I thought that it doesn’t make the knife “work” any better, and I can’t really afford to spend a bunch of extra $ on knife cosmetics. I think I will probably end up getting the CG. It’s more affordable, and if I ever want a uncoated knife, I could always just bead-blast my M6. Since they didn’t offer an uncoated M6, it would make mine more unique, and since it’s SR101 it would be more rust resistant than uncoated SR7.

Howdy Andy! I got my CG for the same reason - money! It really does feel great in the hand, and I like the blade shape. The coating will help protect the blade as you mentioned.
Indiana's carry laws DO make it an attractive state for those so inclined, and I don't think the weather is too bad. Do you get much "lake effect" snow, or are you far enough away? All in all, I think you're in a pretty nice area. Tom

Actually, the 9" bowie is fairly easy to carry. The blade is very light (forged) so it is comfortable. i do take it off if sitting in car, etc. The 6" version was obtained for that reason. I often have forgotten that I was carrying the 6", it is so unobrusive. The 9" is more of a 'special occasion' carry.

We need a 5/16" (or thicker) SR-77 BOWIE!!! (Written back in early '07 -- Regulator Premonition?)
