And the three of us shouldn't have any trouble getting that far as long as the gound stays walkable/4wheel accessable.

Good morning Dogs! Randy, I'm really glad to see you are working on emergency preps. A lot of items can be found on fleabay such as Katadyn water filters, freeze-dried food, etc. Around here, I'm not worried about quakes as much as I am ice-storms, tornadoes, and other rough weather. I keep a lot of canned goods such as the small 1# canned hams, canned chicken, beef patties in gravy, and tuna fish, along with vegetables and fruit.
I have a couple of extra 12 volt deep-cycle batteries, power inverters, and various low wattage lights for lighting. There are several sleeping bags and lots of blankets stored, and I even have a couple of tents. My basement looks like a combined grocery / sporting goods store! You DO want to have the means to protect yourselves! Just a few thoughts.

yah that kinda frustrates me when people dont prepare some how for certain events that happen all the time or will happen sometime like earth quakes. i try to get my parents to keep some kind of food and water stock but they just think im being paranoid. we have had to evacuate once because of wildfires too and they werent prepared at all. good thing nothing happened, but that doest mean it wont happen again. so ive put together a BOB for them and its in the downstairs closet now. at least they will have some essentials ready to go at a moments notice.

Thanks Tom. I should have started this a long time ago, but...you know. Anyway, we are pretty set as far as beans, corn, rice etc, at least for a month or so. We may get tired of the same food but it WILL keep us alive. Now WATER, that is something I have been giving a lot of thought to lately. Protection, not a problem close or long range. but I DO wish my glock 17 would shoot lead reloads though!

Great idea Tony, on the BOB and working on your folks. Every time something bad happens there's people saying "I never thought it could happen to us"!
