Bottled water and a water filter - I like Katadyn myself, some spare canned goods, sleeping bag and blankets don't take up that much room in a closet. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Tom, which Katadyn filter/filters you got. Which ones would work for muddy/body infested water in your opinion if it gets that bad. And yeah, it would be treated after filtering and don't think it would get THAT bad, but I think that would be the worse situations around here.

One thing thats pretty good to have with a water filter is a pre filter. Like panty hose. Sounds funny but it will make your filter last loger especi8ally in muddy or sandy water. Just wrap some around the intake tube and it will cathc the bigger stuff before it cloggs anything up and you can just brush it away to clear up a clog.

Another thing to consider is a viral filter. In theory you can throw on a viral filter and get safe drinkable water from a sewage pond. I'm not sure I want to test that theory though.

Yeah, I've got a few old socks put back and they say coffee filters work good as tell. Hadn't really thought of hose, but with the tighter weave it might work just as well, if not bette than thicker material.
