very nice evolute, how did you get that shot? Early one morning, my friend and I were cruising a particular road, looking for birds. This snake was laying in the road, warming himself on the pavement. The mailman drove up, and pulled over. He had snake handling tools, but was afraid. My friend and I weren't afraid of snakes, to we took the snake handling tools, picked up the snake, and put him in the grass. Boy was he pissed off! He didn't want to slither away in the grass, he wanted to behave very aggressively toward us. Meanwhile, we were trying to keep him from heading back into the road, and get him to go off into the grass. We spent several minutes taking photos him him trying to attack us, while we tried to steer him deeper into the grass.

how close were you? (shudder) I was a little under 5 feet. Snakes can only strike the length of the coiled parts of their bodies, so I knew I was safe.
