Dumb question, but thought you guys would know. I've got access to some buckets that ARE NOT food grade items. Actually, they're paint or mudd buckets. IF I clean those really really well would they work?

And of course, I could always buy new non food grade ones at either Wallyworld or Lowes.

I would advise against it Randy, as chemicals can eventually leach out of the plastic. Just get yourself a couple of new buckets - we want to keep you around for a while! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

My parents live about 15 minutes away, and 5 years ago my dad had one of the whole house gererators installed that runs off a underground propane tank, I believe it can run the whole house, a/c and everything for 2 weeks.

So they wouldn't have to be food grade buckets? Cool, I can handle that. I think I am gonna get rid of a few bucks in the next couple three days.

I would love to have one of those generators! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> However, money dictates that I stick with my portables. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />

Well Jared, sounds like you've got a built in shelter! Might not be a bad idea to hord up your supplies there and just build you a "Gotta get there" kit. Remember, THE ANIMALS come out in disaster situations, and I DOn'T mean those with 4 legs!

You should (we ALL SHOULD) but you could just build up smaller backpack kits you and your girl could carry and that should be able to get you to your Dads place.
