An entire custom leather shop. You name I have a tool to make it and probably the hardware. My Dad was a custom leather crafter. Had an international following and just stopped making it unless it was family or something intersting.
He and I have been working on a few project and he saw that i had made Kydex sheaths. He hates them. Gave me every tool he has and all his hardware. I'm cleaning out the archery workbench in the basement to make a work space and have a wall full of shelves of hardware.
I literally have a custom leather shop capable of making anything out of leather by hand.
Problem is I don't have the know how. He is going to teach me. His only request was that he can use the shop when he wants to putter around. He refuses to go back into business. He only wants to do interesting custom work.

MB that sounds cool as double hockey sticks. learning a trade from your dad like that and having all of the tools that he used to back it up. should be good and will something you can appreciate for the rest of your life. maybe even pass on to the younguns...

I enjoy goofing around with it. I am taking on a lot more than I am capable of right now. I have never done a ton of holster and sheath making. I helped out with the shop over the years but usually that was hand stitching and lacing, buck stitching etc. It will be interesting have the opportunity to do whatever.
His claim to fame was period leather holsters and gunbelts from the old west. And custom one of gun leathers for exotic applications.
I'm hoping my kid will want to learn from him as well. Dad has always had way more talent than I have when it comes to stuff like that. It will be great now that we both have the time to hang out and do things.
