They are like the plague here.

We should start quarantining and reprogramming them. Strike a little bit of God into them!

I thought they were quarantined...in Illinois. Apparently some are escaping.

This is my first knife from Scrap Yard, but the mudder is really like nothing I've ever felt before. It has a very good grip without being sticky or rubbing off on my hand. I can't wait to see how it holds up over time.

If you want to see some evidence of how well it will hold up read through some of the forums or go to this link:

Oh, and welcome to the yard!

Oh yeah, and Swamp Rat & Scrap Yard are the only knife makers in the industry whose warranty also covers rubber handles.

Alright gents, while I am eagerly awaiting the delivery of my single S5 (hopefully tomorrow), I was wondering about how you guys feel about the mudder grips.

I am hoping for some feedback from those dogs who are new to mudders and how they compare to Dan's standard Res-C grips or SRKW/Busse micarta slabs.

In my limited experience, I can't imagine getting any better feel than the Res-C on my S6. So, do you think the mudders are an all-around improvement, or just handy for fine work, or what?

Can you tell the anticipation is building?

By the way all handles are made of Res-C. The mudders were made at a higher durometer reading or harder setting... but they are all the same material

Dan

Does that mean the mudders are impervious to the only thing known to damage the other res c handles- squirrels?

These are my first mudders as well. I think they will shine in adverse conditions. At present, and just receiving them, I would say I prefer the Res-C, but we will see over time.

What I expected was that the handles would be a bit larger, filling the hand more, with the mudders being a bit more flexible and from fitting. I do not have large hands by any means, but the handle seems hard to squeeze and get a tight grip. It is like piniching a bag of groceries...it is hard to carry it, even if it is lighter then something with a thicker grip. I am suprised you big fellas don't have trouble with the smaller grips....IMHO

Agent Iron--Seems like you came to the same conclusion I did. Bigger hands, smaller handles OK, smaller hands, bigger handles better. Not that I'm gonna throw the S5 back, I still really like it alot. Just an observation.

The mudders feel great in my hand. The standard Res like on a mutt feels small. I actually prefer the smaller SY knives like the BDLE- MPLE-SS4 -Muk etc. Don't get me wrong- I LOVE all the Bussekin steel- just the mudders are something I use daily. The S 5s are absolutely awesome IMO.

I love the mudders on my Muk, they feel just right in my hand. The handles on my SOD do feel a little small, I've been thinking I may cord-wrap it. Don't get me wrong though I still like the feel of standard Res-C.

I much prefer the mudders in the S5 to the handles of the SOD. I don't have anything else to compare it too. I like both, but the mudders win.
