interesting. lynn's no role model himself. exaggerating is lying. he also has a girly name. now if it came from a more credible source, like spark from bf, i'd more people would care. between them it just seems like mud slinging.

That it is, but Lynn posts the actual supporting documents. As a former Air Forces Special Operations Air Commando, I just hate phonies who use use thier fake heroism to make a buck. Not that I ever did anything special. At least Lynn admits that he has no military experience.

wow. spark's got a lot to say. i'm not readin all of that yet i wonder if i want my 889 anymore. i admit, it's a freakin cool knife. very substantial and solid. it is, however, poorly designed. only good for shallow cuts, but that's how hollow grinds go. think i'll try and trade it for a d'allara drop point. i want a vg-10 knife.

Hey Vic - I just snagged a 24" diameter x 18" tall chunk of white pine trunk to use as a chopping block behind my house. I've noticed that you have a trusty stump that you use all the time - and when I saw some guys sectioning out a big pine out of some rich guy's yard I asked if I could steal a chunk!!

I don't really like hollow grinds anymore for anything other than smaller folders.

Do you think that your Strider is as solid (edit: "tough") as the Scrapper 6 or DF?

I don't know jack about strider knives. They may be fine. I know Thompson does a lot of over the top hype, but I have used a lot of his knives and have been pleased with most of them.

i may get flamed for this but a decent knife is not complicated or difficult to make. for $300-$500 a knife should be...well a busse. a .25" thick saber ground tanto of s30v isn't gonna cut jack squat better than a .08" thick scandi ground clip point in 12c27. paracord wrapped handles do not feel or function better than molded plastic. did i just say a $10 mora is a better knife than a strider costing 40x?

i'm gonna paracord wrap a mora and charge $300. it'll be huge.

If you don't mind doing a little finishing, the Windlass Bowies are quite nice for the price. The steel is pretty good. They are made in India, though.

Awhile back I picked up a Quama from Atlanta Cutlery.

So, how do you like it? The Qama is much like the Gladius.

I was thinking about picking up a Kinjal for mail testing at one time but they were back orderd.

The steel is pretty soft so the belt grinder will get quite a work out if you use it alot

And that is a true statement. Tastes like watered down [email]cr@ppy[/email] beer to me. I really prefer a beer that when you hold up the bottle, you can't see through it.

I never have.

Some of you guys saw that picture of the damascus knife that I got from that old knifemaker here in Missoula MT - anyways, myself and another X-Army guy from the Blade Forums met up to go help this guy get set up to sell knives on the 'net. It was pretty cool meeting another "knife nut" (especially one who is prior service) from my area - and it wouldn't have ever happened if it wasn't for knife forums such as this. I've found that knife and gun people are generally great people, and wish I was able to sit down and have a beer w/ all of the Dogs in the Yard. Not trying to be all sentimental, but its really great to have a congregation of such interesting and good people like we do in the Yard.

Yeah, I talk to friends and get the "why would you spend that on a knife" Seems like 440a and aus4 is good enough for them.. Sigh.

Your friends have a higher grade steel tha my friends. Of course, we have the Feds here at the FLETC. They are all into Benchmades and Spyderco. I try to avoid them at the range ever since one of them gave me a ration of his sef-righteous "Why would a civilian need an assault rife" rant. That was during the
tense times of Ruby Ridge and such. I might be a civilian, but I hate being called one!
