What kind of options do we have for the S5? Will there be a SY sheath available for the S5? Plenty of custom options, but is there any currently available sheaths that one could obtain inexpensively until a custom sheath can be purchased?

Thanks

Cardboard + tape is the cheapest way to go. My knives use home made sheaths for the first few months until I break down and buy one.

I've seen kydex and leather already for $45 - $55, nice stuff too. Otherwise I'd do cardboard and tape.

Field expedient sheath

My Scrap Yard Priority Mail Box, a roll of duct tape, and some black spray paint.

Cost, about $0.87

How's that for recycling?

Not as nice as Andy's camo tape sheaths, but it'll do until I get one ordered...

As a first try, it's ugly but functional...

Even with flat black paint it looks like patent leather...

I'm still waiting on my blades but I did manage a trip to the local leather store for a $14.00 hunk of belly-cut cowhide. It should make a couple of okay sheaths with enough left over for the whetstone pouches. Add $5.00 for thick thread and a couple of "snaps" and voila.
Basically an excuse for trying my hand at leathercraft and saving a few bucks.

Sweet.

I'm all thumbs with that kind of thing.

Be sure to post pix!

I have been looking for leather locally for a long time with no luck, I have been meaning to make a strop.

Wow. I did that exact same thing, only with Gorilla tape. Stronger and it comes in black already.

However, I preordered 4 kydex sheaths from Buy Brown back in May. Good stuff!

People don't appreciate how hard it is to make a cardboard/tape sheath until they try it.
