I like kydex a lot for coated blades. It's compact, light, and retains well. On the other hand, kydex can scratch blades, is less comfortable to carry than leather, and is noisier. It can also crack in really cold weather.

I live in Georgia, so.... I'd be more worried about the kydex getting so soft that it re-forms itself around the blade

No offense Andy, but in almost 10 years of making/selling sheaths for folks all over the world (including Alaska, Iceland & Russia )I have never had one come back because of the cold breaking a sheath. Never once. Must be how they are made & the materials ?

Must be how they are made & the materials ? Good to hear. I've never had it happen to me, but I've heard people at the Swamp mention it. Maybe if it's really thin or something? I dunno...
