what do u guys think of the resiprene on the dog father handles? too me it feels a bit like rubber, and as sweat starts to build up in my palms it might slep through my grip at any moment, i understand that leather gloves would solve this porblem, and i do have them, i was just wondering what u guys thought about the grip. would it become too slippery at some point, that swinging it with the necessary power to chop, would be dangerous. if worse comes to worst, and leatther work gloves arent an option

I never had that feeling - just a feeling of comfortable non-stinging hands! Some of these other guys have done a lot more chopping with theirs than I have - but I've heard exactly zero negative reports about the ResC.

Great stuff. I used to like kraton which does IMHO fell like rubber but Resiprene C at least to me does not even come close to kraton. The hand is recessed a bit in the DF's handle design so I don't think you have anything to worrie about.

JYD#14 Do you need one, of course you do it's a knife and you like knives.....

Not a problem Resiprene-C the way they do it in Texas and Ohio.

It has not gotten slippery on me yet. It stays grippy when wet.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

I’ve never had problems with the grip on Res-c. When I first got my RM, I put a lanyard on it that I could put my hand through so just in case it slipped out of my hand, it wouldn’t go flying and hurt me or someone else. I also wear leather gloves if I’m going to do a lot of chopping because I usually get blisters if I don’t. I’ve used my knives a lot, and not had one slip from my grasp yet. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

This pic was taken May 9th of last year. They have a bit more wear now.

ricky43,
I had those same questions at first.

Suggestion.. Do a chopping comparison.
Res-C Dog Father, along with a similar sized non-ResC chopper (micarta, wood, horn, whatever your choice). Afterwards you will come to LOVE the DF's Res-C handle! It really saves your hand from the shock/sting, especially on hard woods.

Eye protection's a good idea.

Like Andy said.. without gloves it *can* give you blisters.

You can try wetting the handle, do some air chops to see how it handles when wet.

Let us know how it goes!
