Not the greatest pics by any means but saw some cool animals. My camera sucks and has practically no zoom. Everything looks farhter away but ohh well. I didnt go out deep in the glades just drove out to a spot.Just wanted to go try out some new knives. Anyhow here they are:

I had a bunch of firewood linned up but the rain came so i had to hurry.
I only got to use the branch from a live oak that i found on the ground.

Nice pics. FYI, you might want to check the rules sticky post. Dan doesn't like us posting other companies knives unless other Busse Kin knives are included as a comparison. He doesn't want to be paying bandwidth to advertise for the competition.

+1 to what Andy said. BTW, that is a good snake!

Thanks for the heads up. I didn't think it mattered in this section only because I saw a post that has been in here for a few days titled " my new Bowie" where all it it about is a non busse knife. And I didn't see anyone say anything.

Anyhow I edited my post . Took out the knife stuff.

I think the main difference is that the bowie in that other thread was a one-off custom done by a knife maker that the poster knows. Customs are a bit of a different world compared to production knives.

Also, our moderators have busy lives, so it's possible they just didn't notice the thread

Well in that case I apologise. I created a thread in the knife section of the forum about the izula and was told not to do that. I came in the wildlife area and saw the Bowie post and got the wrong impression. My mistake I did not mean any disrespect to Busse knives by it. I can deffinately see the conflict of intirest here and I won't do it again.

Hopefully soon iwill be able to get my hands on a scrapyard or othe busse kin knife and I will compare them towhat I have ( as if there is any comparison). I really respect the busse line of knives. Again my apologies.

Oh there's a comparison - I've done chopoffs where the majority of my Busse family blades were out-chopped by a Ka-Bar Heavy Bowie and a Cold Steel LTC Kukri. SY, SR, and Busse make very nice knives, but there are others out there that compare to them in just about every category... it's the combination of performance in MANY categories that makes them awesome knives.

That $50 ka-bar chopped better than larger, heavier Busse knives, but I wouldn't want to use it to try to hack the hinges off a Jeep

Nice pics SS.

And now for the part I probably shouldn't say
I understand why the others warned you about the pics of other knives but i can make no sense of why it is an issue...? You didn't include a caption..saying how great they were...you didn't even tell us what brand they were, although we all probably recognized at least the Becker...So, why is there a problem with those pics? I could see if he was boasting about how great they were, etc. but just showing a pic? And it would be "okay" as long as there was a SY knife sitting somewhere i the pic? Or being compared,,,and as MM stated possibly even beaten in the comparison/competition? Sorry, I love SY knives as much as anyone else but this makes no sense to me. I wonder if we are taking the rule too far here...Seriously?

Anyway...Nice pics and now I'm gonna run out and buy a Becker! NOT!

Well in all fairnes no moderator has locked the thread or even warned me as of yet. Just a few concerned posters. I can see why. It's not like this forum is an open blade forum. It's a scrapyard forum. No big deal.

The original post has been edited - originally he DID talk about the knives, and changed it after folks mentioned the rule.

It's definitely not a big deal at all, but a good idea to try to keep the spirit of the rules in mind. Plus it gives you an excuse to use your Bussekin knives more - always throw one into the mix and you've got an excuse to talk about all of them.

EDIT:

I should also point out that, in its current form, I see nothing at all wrong with the thread - it's not focused on any non-Busse knives, and is just a series of outdoor pictures that happens to have a couple knives in it. After the edit to remove the text, it's definitely in line with the spirit of the rules IMHO.
