Hopefully soon iwill be able to get my hands on a scrapyard or othe busse kin knife and I will compare them towhat I have ( as if there is any comparison). I really respect the busse line of knives. Again my apologies.

Oh there's a comparison - I've done chopoffs where the majority of my Busse family blades were out-chopped by a Ka-Bar Heavy Bowie and a Cold Steel LTC Kukri. SY, SR, and Busse make very nice knives, but there are others out there that compare to them in just about every category... it's the combination of performance in MANY categories that makes them awesome knives.

That $50 ka-bar chopped better than larger, heavier Busse knives, but I wouldn't want to use it to try to hack the hinges off a Jeep <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

It's funny you mention the kabar heavy Bowie. I was considering picking one up just because they are so cheap and look pretty bad [censored].

If you want to see how the Heavy Bowie stacked up against some Busse family blades, check out my chopoff at the below link.

There is a HUGE caveat with those results, though... those results were using the factory edges on every knife except the mini mojo. Some, like the ka-bar, came with really good edges from the factory. Some, like the NMSFNO, did not.

I've since put a nice convex edge on that NMSFNO, and it chops WAY WAY WAY better than it did with the factory edge. If you had the same knife and didn't want to sharpen it yourself, you could send it back to Busse and have them reprofile to whatever edge geometry you want on it, for free.
