I'm pretty new here and wanted to know how the Scrapper 6 measures up against other knives in this blade length, Bussekin included.

Thanks dogs

I don't have a scrapper 6, but personally, for a knife that size, I'd rather have SR-101 or INFI. SR77 is great on a chopper, but on a bit shorter blade like the S6, I value edge retention more than overt toughness.

If you can snag a good price on an S6 on the second-hand market, by all means go for it, as SR77 is still a great steel, but if I had to choose one six inch knife, the S6 wouldn't be the one.

Personally, for me, a six inch knife is in a sort of limbo area - a little bit too big for fine tasks, and a little bit too small for chopping. I'd rather step up to a SOD-sized blade, or down to something like the scrapper 5. Just my preference, your mileage my vary.

They're popular, but I don't own one myself. Here is Noss's classic destruction test: http://www.knifetests.com/scrapyardscrapper6test.html

It is considered one of the best in it's class, at least by many here! For it's strength, balance,
comfort (res-c), and warranty. It started it all here.

Some prefer the Camp Tramp (very similar) and I do like the Ranger blades,
but the S6 is one sweet user in the hand!

The question is not how the Scrapper 6 measures up against other 6" blades. It's how they measure up to it. The S6 is light, fast, super tough, and quite possibly the best all-around knife I have ever used. Oh, and welcome to the Yard.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Yeah, looks like I'm definitely being overruled by the rest of the Yard on this one

I love my scrapper 6...it feels so balanced and its a great knife, one of my favorite SY knives. I wish Dan would do another run of these great knives.

Lol, while I have no experience with it, the S6 has legendary status here...

I would like one, but I agree with your point of view.

Enjoy every sandwich.

It is a great blade for it's size, I kinda miss it.

The S6 is so light and nimble. You can skin a deer with it, chop kindling, butcher an animal. The Busse and Swamp Rat 6" knives with the full tangs and micarta scales are much heavier. If Dan does make some more S6s, I'd like the SR101 steel, but even with the SR77, I'd get another one.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.
