I know that photos of the Regulator are supposed to be blurry, but some guys are showing photos with other knives anyway. I'm not asking for a chop off, or any physical comparison, or testing. Going back to the Blade 2009 photos.... On the table was an SOD next to a Regulator, and the Regulator looked real small. I'm just curious....is the Regulator smaller in stature, or was it just a bad photo? I'm just trying to get an idea of a size difference between the two. If this post is wrong, and I'm breaking the rules I'm sorry. Feel free to erase it, and punish me, or blast me all over the Yard. The Regulator is going to be my next purchase, and I'm just trying to get a feel for it. Thanks, and again sorry if this a bad post.

Here are the official specs:
 Regulator
 Overall Length: 13"
 Blade Length: 7 1/2"
 Blade Thickness: .333" (Over 5/16")
 Handle: Resiprene C
 Steel: SR-101
Hardness: Differentially Treated: Spring Tempered body with 59-61 Rc edge.
 Weight: 14 1/2 ounces!!!

 Son of Dogfather
 Steel: SR-77
 Hardness: 58 - 60 Rc
 Handle: Resiprene C
 Thickness: .250"
 Blade Length: 7 1/2"
 Overall Length: 12 1/2"

So they have the same blade length, but the SOD handle is slightly shorter. The width of the regulator, however, is smaller than that on the SOD, so that might explain why it "looked" smaller. It also has a more aggressively tapered point, which could further contribute to the slimmer look, despite its 1/3 of an inch thickness.

No idea on that one - I don't have a scale and just copy-and-pasted the specs. I remember looking for the weight once and being unable to find it.
I will say it's fairly close to the weight of the regulator, though.

I thought that surely someone on the forum who has both would have posted a side by side pic by now. I think a picture is the best way to compare them, short of holding them in your hands.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

That's what I'm saying Vic. I don't want anyone to get in trouble over this, but I'm just looking for a little side by side thats all.

Thanks MM for the written comparison. That helped. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Those pics are just fine for a size comparison, MM. Thanks.
