Guys I need a new strop for my convex blades, but most decent sized commercial ones are expensive. I was thinking of making my own with some leather and plywood. Can I use any kind of leather? Jantz knife supply sells some leather fairly cheap. 12" x 12" for $10. Can I just eboxy that down to a piece of plywood add some compound and be good to go??

I know convex loving horn dog has an answer for this.....

An old leather belt would work just fine.
Secondhand store, .50cents
Chromium Oxide rubbed in it will do wonders
to strop a knife into shaving sharp shape.

You can use cardboard for a strop too.

Is the chromium oxide the same as Flitz? I tried Flitz and it seemed to dull the blade.
