A lot of guys have been wanting the Big Dog Father CG's.

Well..... it's coming in Desert Tan! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

LardoGanzaaaaa. . . Scrap Yard & Swamp Rat Are Coming To Throw Down At The Hoe Down!

[Linked Image from i80.photobucket.com]

No word if specs are same or not. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> - Jerry isn't very good about posting specs on Ganzaaa's. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif" alt="" />

Also, the Vex is coming as well. I HIGHLY recommend. I think the Vex is one of the best smaller Busse and kin knives ever release and ranks up with the SS4 and S5.

I strongly suggest going after the vex's - one of the most functional EDC designs to ever come out of a Bussekin company - no stupid non-functional choil eating up valuable blade real estate.

Since there are DF in the mix does this mean we don't have to be a Hog to participate?

Jerry will post specs and pics in advance along with a general starting time, usually between 9:00 and 10:00 PM. He will instruct you how to word your email along with addresses to send it too. When he posts go send your email and it is first come first served. You have probably heard us referencing F5F5F5 in the past, everybody is refreshing their screens waiting on the go signal. This is all done on the Busse forum at Blade forums. Be aware that there will be a lot of fake jerrys trying to fool people as well as bring up threads from old gaanzas and this is all part of the fun. If you shoot off your email early you go to the end of the line.

there will be a limited number of them available for a limited amount of time, on a first come first served basis. Anyone interested will have to watch the Busse board on bladeforums like a hawk, poised and ready to send his email to Jerry. After you send the email you wait and hope you get lucky enough to get to buy the knives you want.

i have mixed feelings about this one. I am secretly crying on the inside b/c i have don't have the $$, but absolutely love this color combo.

I am a little disapointed that Dan chose to offer this up during the ganza. Now people in the yard have to compete with all the hogs as well. These things would be difficult to get if the ganza was a dog only event in the first place.

But I'm sure about a million people will flame me reminding me that it's dan's company, dan's ball, dan's rules. I understand that. With such a sweet little deal as this, and such (i'm sure) a limited number, i would rather see a dog only ganza, or even a "we'll take email requests for one day and then have a lotto drawing for the chance" event.

But as always Dan's rules. I'm just some guy that buys as much of his product as I can possibly afford and don't understand the reasoning of letting these puppies go into the ganza only to have half or more of them show back up in the secondary market at inflated mark ups.

I thought the tan DF was a full grind <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />? Is this version different ? The Ganza is a blast IMO but I haven't faired very well at all <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif" alt="" />. Last Ganza I tried for like 10 pieces and didn't get one single knife <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />. Money is not the object here- that is just a " taken" . ya got to be lightning fast and these guys are FAST <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />. Still...........it is a bunch of fun and a great way to get some AWESOME steel <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />.I wish we could have a Dog Bowl- that would also be a real good time-Thanks <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

The Dog Father CG is a Saber Grind. The Dog Father LE is a full height grind. The tan/tan being offered is the Saber Grind.

These appear to be a different version -- I have the full-height tan version from KC, but the one in the picture is definitely saber-ground.

don't understand the reasoning of letting these puppies go into the ganza only to have half or more of them show back up in the secondary market at inflated mark ups.

It's easy to understand: they're a company, they sell product. The faster you can sell it the better. Secondary price gouging and the "games" that somebody described being played in order to bump people out of the race are completely irrelevant to the goal of the manufacturer selling knives.

Easy to understand. Hard to like.

i understand that reasoning momaw, except they would sell out all of their product either way. They won't make more money selling it through a ganza, it will just to go less loyal customers.

But they aren't just any old company selling product. Jerry encourages and clearly enjoys the games - you could make a strong argument that a lot of the community and fanbase he's built around his knives and his company is due to those games. The theatrics of a ganzaa or the trough at BLADE are an integral part of the goal of the manufacturer selling knives, when the manufacturer is one that is as unique as Busse.

I'd still rather see the Dogs get first crack at the dogfathers, as well, but I understand and have even come to enjoy the insanity of the trough and hog treachery.

I do prefer the environment we have here at the Yard, where there's less competition and more supporting each other, which is why I'll always consider myself a Dog first, but those Hogs sure have a lot of fun doing things their way.

I'm hoping a Dog will get a chance at a few of the dogfathers in the ganzaa, and pass them along at cost to other members of the Yard, much like I did with the SOD I picked up at BLADE - and that's not me bragging about doing something nice, that's me remembering my own efforts to mimic the kindness and generosity I've seen displayed time and time again by the awesome brothers here in the Yard. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Bah, the ganzas are a blast!! I miss the old style of selling Scrapyards. The new method doesn't get the adrenaline going and is pretty boring. I've always gotten the knife I was going for in a ganza(even when I really couldn't afford to) Heck, the guy who won the last big #1 knife got it from his iPhone in an area with a bad connection.

Donning flame suit now....

To each their own Ted.

I prefer the new style of buying.

I am not interested in getting caught up in HYPE about MUST do THIS NOW or MISS OUT.

The guy with the iPhone got lucky - period. And not everyone has iPhones. Further, not everyone can sit around a computer for Jerry's schedule.

The fact that you can is great for you. I have been able to on many occassions, but I would rather not dictate my schedule to it other peoples schedules. I would rather have my schedule flexible to my needs and not HAVE to prioritized sitting and waiting for a Ganzaaa when I could be doing other things. And there HAVE been times when I have needed to work and just could not participate.

I would rather focus on the values of the KNIVES than play Go-Go games!

That said, if the primary releases are sold as they have been via orders (S5CG, M9LE, Waki and similar), I am fine with an occassional Ganzaaa for "Unique" and limited items. Just not for standard items.

All of the Fatty's are fine fodder for a Ganzaaa.... I have no interest.
Throw the "overly fat" Hack's in there as well.

I would like to see the Hack with thinner blade and less belly. If thinner, it would probably be one of the best small Busse knives ever. 0.15" thick would be great.

But, personally I feel the Vex and Desert DF should be sold via open buying/ordering..... Maybe Jerry will do so after he has had his fun with his Ganzaaa (?????) - But, you never know though. So, those who miss out will be frustrated one way or another.

I already have a Vex. I HIGHLY recommend the VEX!!!

I already have a DFLE and a Battle Rat and since funds are very tight for me and since I have purchase so many knives recently in spite of this, I will pass on the tan DF and the whole Ganzaaa. I don't really care for the tan Res-C anyway. And I am relieved that none of the other blades fit my needs or desires at this time.

In any event, I know a lot of people have wanted a DF. Here is a good chance that may or may not ever come again (????)

.

I think the biggest point of weirdness is that ganzaa is set up to be highly competitive and time limited, like an auction, but the product in question goes for a fixed and reasonable price. Then everybody who gets in buys a half dozen and sells them at 100% markup. Either make enough that you can sell them at the proper price, or hold a REAL auction where they are sold at whatever price the market will bear (which would make more money for the Busses anyway).

It's all good folks. Dog Bowls- Ganzas- releases - who cares <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />. When the Reg was released at Blade quite a few folks were ticked off and I sure wasn't real happy. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> But- the great folks at the yard made them availible to all at a great price so I picked some up and am VERY pleased <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />. Even a better color IMO <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />. So- let's all enjoy the Ganza as it is one hell of a great time and also wait for some new steel and just purely enjoy <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> !! Let the good tmes roll <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />-Thanks

I just look at the ganzas as a safety valve to keep me from spending to much money. If everything was easy to get I'd have every Busse ever offered. I have been lucky enough to get every knife I've gone for, but I have sat some out just because I didn't have the time or means to order when the ganza was on. I don't seem to have suffered for missing out on a whole bunch of knives, but it does add excitement for what is otherwise a pretty mundane purchase. You'll see the same mentality in the HI forum with the DOTD and you CAN buy their knives at anytime, but the DOTD makes it fun to compete.

That Desert DF is nice! I'm very tempted although odds are I'm sitting this one out.

Here's a picture of a full-height Fall Knob Creek '08 Tan Dog Father along with my straight-handled mistress:

[Linked Image from i202.photobucket.com]

Yesterday I got the chance to compare my NMFBM(.275") to another FBM, this time a custom shop(.270") DDFBM. Very nice but I don't dig the wavy spine on the FBM. This new custom shop FBM looks sweet as <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> . And the tan DF, looks & will be awesome <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> . Some of the newer Dogs are going to be most pleased with this knife. Chop away <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Man, I like the vex a lot! I wish it was just being offered outright. These Ganzas are hard for me and I think selling them on the Busse site will bring in many collectors who are big buyers.

Too bad- that green handle looks SWEET!!!

I strongly suggest going after the vex's - one of the most functional EDC designs to ever come out of a Bussekin company - no stupid non-functional choil eating up valuable blade real estate.

PLus one! I love the vex. It feels so nice in hand.

Enjoy every sandwich.

The vex is a perfect edc. I compared it to my AD in a video I did on my current fixed blades.

Don't forget we(dawgs) got most of the MOD 7's that were part of the ganza(Jim has over 10% of all MOD's available to the public)

don't also forget that there was a small uproar when the Mod's where released, and in the end they limited the sale to the yard for the first 30 minutes or 10 minutes or something to give us an edge.

Dan tells us “Jerry can really hold his Johnny Blue.”

Amy says: “Just remember to send the e-mail after the GO GO GO GO on WEDNESDAY Remember Jerry is ALWAYS RED..Do not fall for the Fake Jerry's.”

I think I’ve got it. We feed Jerry a Jerry can full of Johnny Blue so he will give a Red GO GO GO GO signal to start the drunken ganza.

If Jerry drinks a Jerry can full of Johnny Walker Red, he will get confused and give a Blue signal, it will be a sober fake ganza and we’ll all waste our emails.

That’s how the rules work, right?

I think the biggest point of weirdness is that ganzaa is set up to be highly competitive and time limited, like an auction, but the product in question goes for a fixed and reasonable price. Then everybody who gets in buys a half dozen and sells them at 100% markup. Either make enough that you can sell them at the proper price, or hold a REAL auction where they are sold at whatever price the market will bear (which would make more money for the Busses anyway).

If Jerry really wants to make things interesting he should do it dutch auction style. People would submit bids for what they were willing to pay. Then the bids are all ordered from highest to lowest and you compare that to how many knives there are. if there are 10 knives and the bids are in this order: 300,275,275,275,260,250,250,245,240,225,210,205,175,150,111,100,95,75. the top ten bids would get knives and each would pay the price of the 10th bid ie. 225. would be more suspense for the buyers, and more coin in jerry's pocket.

One of the reasons I threw in some Dog Fathers...for the fun and rush. This is not a production run like our regular offerings. Best of luck and enjoy games

I prefer to be able to buy without having to be online at a certain time. I think a ganza that just starts at 8 would be easier than check your PC and hit f5 every minute but hey, whatever works.

I got tricked by the hog treachery, and sent an email in about 2-3 minutes early, and then another 2-3 minutes after the "go go go" was posted.

I won't really cry if I don't get in - I will have to cut into my scotch fund to pay for a DF.

I had to walk away from my computer about 6min before Jerry posted go but set my email to send at 6:46. Then I checked with my phone while driving and got tricked into sending early. I guess I'll see what happens. No big loss if I don't get in. Just peeved I got tricked.

FAIL...I think I was done in by the Hog gamers. My email was timed at 8:39 and the real GO was 8:44. The follow-up email was probably too little, too late...
I have a DF that is staying with me, but sure like the looks of the Desert DF!

I hope that those who don't have a DF and wanted one were able to score. I am not very computer savvy and have been able to score at ganzaas on occasion. If I can do it, anyone can. Those hogs are a sneaky, greedy bunch. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

For whatever it's worth, this ganza didn't "feel" like there were nearly as many participants as normal. The BladeForums server stayed responsive for me pretty much the whole time; it usually times out at least half the time for me during a ganza. Hopefully, that means that those who were a little late getting their emails off will still be able to score.

Nice scores somber - no word from Amy-O for me yet, but the emails could very well be waiting in my spam folders on my computer at home.

For whatever it's worth, this ganza didn't "feel" like there were nearly as many participants as normal. The BladeForums server stayed responsive for me pretty much the whole time; it usually times out at least half the time for me during a ganza. Hopefully, that means that those who were a little late getting their emails off will still be able to score.

not for me, it was very slow here and I've got good internets.

But I SCORED!! My first Ganzaaa a success!!!!

Hehehe, got bothe the Dogfather and his son

Mine went out at 8:49, a full five minutes after Jerry posted the GO. I haven't received an e-mail yet, but I'm still hopeful. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crossfingers.gif" alt="" />

I picked up a Vex in red G10 for my neighbor. He is an avid deer hunter and watched my house for me while I was at Blade. While there, I got me a folder that is bigger than the Vex.

Method #1: Purchase from the store(s) when blades are made available to order.
For instance, currently, S5LE-Scrap Yard, Waki-Swamp Rat, Tank Buster-Busse Combat.

Method #2: Ganzaa's
A game of who can email the shop first based on what is listed on the Ganzaa post.
Only a limited number of the items shown will be available and people score the blades in the order in which they are received until the blades run out. Ganzaa's happen every once in a while and you have to usually check the BladeForums or Bussekin Forums for details.

Method #3: Secondary Market(s)
Blade Forums and E-bay are places to check for Bussekin that is no longer in production. Be wary of scams.

Method #4: Blade shows
Blade and Knob Creek are events where you can find Bussekin and usually at very good prices. You will have to travel but from I hear it is very worth it. Especially since you get to meet the Busse family and Co.

I guarantee I'll miss something, but here's my attempt at a short summary of how the companies are doing business right now. In the past, there have been several other methods of ordering, but this is the current state of things, as far as I know it.....

Scrap Yard:

Knives are generally offered on the company store, shop.scrapyardknives.com. You place your order for purchase, and then the knives are made, and ship in several weeks after they finish accepting orders.

Occasionally, some small quantities are offered in "ganzaa"s on the Busse board at Bladeforums. Knives can also be bought at shows - Indy, Knob Creek, Blade, Blade West, and a few others.

Swamp Rat:

Knives seem to be primarily sold through preorders recently. Eric puts up a post on the Swamp Rat forums, both at Bladeforums and the Swamp Rat website, and you email him to place your preorder. Once the knives are ready to ship, you get an email letting you know that you can now go to the Swamp Rat website and purchase your knife through the Swamp Rat Company Store. Orders that are placed on this store without having a preorder get canceled.

They also show up in ganzaas and knife/gun shows.

Busse:

Two main outlets for "normal" retail purchases here - first is the Busse website at Bussecombat.com. Orders placed here are generally made AFTER the order is placed, so there is a wait time before shipping. Some other knives are released at the Busse Company Store, at bussecompanystore.com. These are available for immediate purchase and ship very quickly. They aren't made to order.

In addition to that, there are the Ganzaaaaaas and knife shows. Ganzaas are a madhouse, where Jerry will post teasers and pictures, then eventually a list of pricing and specs. During some pre-determined time window, Jerry will post a "GO GO GO" thread for the current Ganzaaa, and everyone rushes to place orders for very limited offerings by emailing him. The order emails are received AFTER the "go go go" post determines who gets to buy what. These are full of games and sneaky tactics by the Busse Hogs who want the best steel for themselves, trying to trick people into sending their emails too early or too late.

I hope that covers most of it. It's not exactly easy to figure out on your own <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
