Had to reload my laptop today and in the process started to clean up my photos. Came across a couple I had posted last summer and then misplaced. It is my CZ 453 Varmint in .17HMR. My little laser beam. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /><img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Tikka checking out the local squirrel population:

Some carnage at 100 Meters:

Those Co2 cartridges really fly when you hit them. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" />

It is topped by a Bushnell Elite 4200 3-9x40 in those photos, however I have since mounted a Mueller APV 4.5-14 for a little more magnification. Truth be told though, my old Marlin 17LVS shot tighter groups. That was after I pillar bedded it though. I think I'll try and build up enough courage to do the same to my CZ and expect better from it. After all, it has a better trigger, action and barrel. Only weak point in the whole equation is the clown on the trigger. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Finally went out to the range with some handloads for my .223 last week too! Looking like some serious potential with 52gr HPBT seated over 25 grains of Varget. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Congratulations Cold One! That is a mighty good shooting to hit a target about ¾” wide from 100 meters.

No matter where you go.....There you are.

I haven't shot any of the CZ 453 varmints in 17HMR, but I just picked up one of the 452 varmints in .22LR and can't wait to shoot it. If you're looking for any tips on the CZ's, I recommend checking on Rimfirecentral.com or linked here: http://rimfirecentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=18

Thanks Horta. The CZ is content to print between .8 and .95 MOA most of the day. My Marlin was a consistent .6 to .75 though.

I lived over there as a lurker for a while MAJORSDAD. Helped guide me to the 453 varmint so that I would have two action screws when I bed instead of an action screw and a barrel pillar.

Don't you just love how smooth and tight the mini mauser action is in these things? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

They make some of the nicest rimfires on the market, unless you want to spend a lot more money. I use to sell guns for a living, and I watched guys with the .22's out shoot others with rifles that cost twice as much. CZ's are very impressive! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

I'm putting a Leupold VX-I 2-7x28mm rimfire scope on mine. I've had it for a couple of years now and have been waiting for the right rifle to put it on. The CZ should be much more accurate than the Ruger 77/22 I took it off of.

I agree on all counts!

I wouldn't trade it for anything less than an Anchutz..

I have a 452 American in .22 lr and it is te most accurate .22 lr I have ever had. I stupidly traded off my 452 varmint in .17 hmr and have been trying to get it back ever since. I love the CZ line of rifles, especially the 527 series. Have you seen their heavy brl tactical bolt guns in .308--I want one LOL.

Nice setup. Those CZ's are really nice rifles that look good too. Does CA make 22's?

Yeah, Cooper Arms makes .22LR and quite a few other calibers too.

I love the 17. I have a Savage with accutrigger and bull barrel.

JYD #119 Just because you're right doesn't mean I'm wrong.
