I would vote no if it helped keep our prices down.
I think it is great to offer options. And if Dan can provide orange glow handles to those who like that feature for easy to find without affecting our pricing, I can appreciate that reasoning.
***** But, personally, if I want my knife easy to find, I like how the SAR guys do it. [color:"yellow"] [/color] Still gives you ability to find a dropped knife without making your knife look ugly. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />
They sell nylon cord and webbing in BRIGHT glow colors and even with Glow material now. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />
Just put a grommet in a piece of bright webbing and attach with cord lanyard or similar. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />
Plus, for easier to find knives, a SATIN blade helps a LOT!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
Personally, I think orange and similar Rainbow Skittles colors are WAY too ugly for me. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/barf.gif" alt="" /> Black is the ONLY Res-C color I like. Period.
I will have to just hunt for my knives if I drop in the leaves. Or use a bright lanyard, cord, webbing, tag, etc. of some sort.
Honestly, I dont' even personally like my lanyards in those colors. But, I think it is a WAY better option than owning an ugly knife. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />
I have actually dropped and had a hard time finding knives on multiple occassions.
Luckily, so far, I have always found. Had a close call with my Black M2 Benchmade 710. It is all black when closed and hard to find. I dropped it at night and couldn't find till the next day and took 5 people looking for about 30 minutes to find - and that was just in my brother-in-law's back yard - about 1/2 acre. We had been clearing blown over trees from last years hurricane. Luckily, I knew it had been dropped somewhere in his yard.
I was getting very sick about it till we found.
But, I will still stick with colors I like. And I like natural colors.
And as much as I consider myself practical, sometimes aesthetics are relevant to my choices. I like and collect knives for many reasons. Simple pure tool function is a high appreciation. But, something about ugly colors ruins a tool for me - even if there is a practical justification for the color.
Rainbow skittles colors and a bunch of the new G10/micarta colors Jerry is introducing are aweful to me.
I like natural colored micarta and G10 handles: blacks, browns, greens, tans, and similar. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />
And SATIN blades every time! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

No orange for me. If you really want an orange one go and get a can of Krylon Fusion and have at it.

I think orange handles are okay on cheap knives....which I don't buy.... Sorry, I think an orange handle makes a knife look like a cheap Walmart special....
Guess I might see it different if I lost one....

+1 on the bright orange lanyard+flag for visibility. Not so much on the orange ResC.

Funny.... I remember some of those stories Andy. Good that I am not the only WORDY one around here. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> I actually had a roofing nail bar magnet at one time, but I have sold it. I don't really do roofing and only purchased it for another project I had worked on. That type of magnet would be good for lawns as it is on wheels with a handle and designed to roll around in yards, drives and such to pick up nails. It would be good at finding knives in grass as well. But, probably not so ideal for your dense thick brush. I have had curious interests in the past of owning a metal detector. But, they are pretty pricy for the very little use I would get out them. Plus, neither would be worth a flip on a hiking or camping trip far from home. As I wouldn't have either nearby. I am going to just make a more conscious effort to be careful and recommend good sheaths and good pocket clips to keep good knives in check. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> And still recommend bright lanyards and webbing tags with possible glow thread for those with significant concerns. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> .
