My package from Busse came today with a couple DDFs Of course I opened one up to get a feel for it and tried the shave test. It popped hairs off my arm like a freshly stropped razor blade. I haven't had time to do any chopping with it and won't until the weekend but so far I LOVE THE THING!
Since I don't have the DF or the DFLE I was hoping someone could tell me what the diffrences are between the three and which one is the best chopper?
Thanks Dogs!

CGDF for heavy duty chopping. "Hard" woods. DFLE for lighter chopping, machete type work. Not afraid to do the heavy duty stuff either.
The DDF vs DF. I think people are posting that the DDF is heavier. I know mine is pretty heavy. Something to do with the sabre grind.

The DFLE, and a handful of coated DF's from shows, has a full flat grind, meaning it's lighter and quicker in the hand.
The DFCG is a saber grind, as is the DDF, although one of them has a larger flat area, meaning even heavier (I think the DDF is the heavier one?) The difference between those two is going to be a lot more subtle than the difference between the full flat and saber grind.
I actually usually prefer full flat to saber, but I had to jump on the opportunity to get a dogfather at retail cost. I might end up putting a ful convex on mine, Horn Dog style

They all are great and MM did a good job describing. I have the DDF-DFCG ( black) DFCG ( tanker gray which is quite heavey like DDF) and the DFLE. I prefer the DFLE- but don't forget that the original tan DFCG was also a flat grind . I think MMs idea about stripping this DDF and doing a convex is spot on IMO . That would give you the beef- plus the convex which is a great combo .They are all great knives- just a bit different. Enjoy

I like the extra weight of the DDF, my Grey mics in at .257 and the DDF at .277

I would appear that there more variations on DFs than just color. Whichever one you get, you're getting the best chopper I have ever used. There are bigger choppers and heavier ones, but for practical use, I'll take a DF over any of the competition. That SR77 can take a beating. And for chopping all day, the Res C is much easier on my hand than any of the full tang choppers I have.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

So we have Tan DFCG, Black DFCG, Gray DFCG, DDF, and DFLE? Wow. I was going to trade one DDF for one of the others but now I'm not sure which one. If the DDF were a different color I would want that so I guess the Black or Gray DFCG is the closest.
