I've used this one a ton. No compass, but it can store tinder in the "body" and has a massively thick "spark bar" as they call it.

Been very happy with it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

I have the army model and it looks like it will last.
A bit on the bigger side but not too big.
Probably still smaller than the canister ones and probably half the price.
But, would be nice to have it all in one package.

I picked up this one...

The canister is a bit bulky, but it still works in a loop on the side of the sheath. You can fit 2 to 3 cotton-balls w/ PJ in it. Very little effort to start a fire.

That is a really sweet setup!

All in one very well dressed package too.
I will be getting one of those, thanks.

Nice setup there. Looks like you got the basics covered there with the double blades and steel.

You also might check out the aurora fire starter by solo scientific. www dot campingsurvival dot com sells them for $19.95. Anybody had any experience with them?

I have something called a "Blast Match", it's a pretty neat unit.

The blast match works very well and has an advantage in that you could use it with one hand. I've head stories about them breaking though and it rendering them almost unusable. So far the one I have, which I've used quite a bit, has held up just fine.
