Check out the Brian Enos forum. It is forum dedicated to firearms competitions of all types. Three gun is an addictive game, do you participate in any other shooting sports?

Do you have a link for the forum you are talking about? I have shot all my life but have never taken the step to the competitive level. It is WAY past time for me to start!!

So...I have decided that I want to get into 3 gun. I have shot handguns, shotguns and rifles before but I want to get some "expert opinions" on what is good gear to get and why. I am looking for all the info I can get so......let it flow.

I have not shot 3 gun. However, I have shot a lot of different competition with rifle, handgun and shotgun and I would highly recommend taking the guns you are best with. Most people forget that it is the shooter that makes the biggest difference and not the equipment. Don't get me wrong, good guns do make a difference but at the end of the day its the shooter who uses the gun well who usely wins. Everytime I saw a friend show up at a match with a new--hot gun I could count him out of the running...I never missed with this insight and it uselly took a good 6 months to get back to the level they used to shoot with the old gun.

Dan that is great advice. I am going to call my local range tomorrow and find out when the next match is. I do need to get a shotgun that will accept more shells however. that is really the only thing that I don't have. I do have hunting shotguns and personal defense shotguns but those won't fair very well at a 3 gun shoot.

A trick that I learned in picking a shotgun and it works everytime is to pick the gun up, close your eyes, shoulder the gun...so it feels natural and quick and then only when you feel that the gun is in the right spot for you...open your sighting eye and see if the beads or sights line up. Don't change the position of your head or shouldering. If your eye aligns with the plane of the gun and the sight or beads aligns...you got a winner that will be hard to miss with.....................If not...move on to a different gun.

Nice tip! I am looking at buying a shotgun and hadn't heard that approach. Thanks!

Agreed Dan.....if it doesn't shoulder well then it is not the gun for the shooter. I have taken the same type approach with my bird guns.

I think I have narrowed down my shotgun search to the FN SLP MK1. Anyone have any experience with this shotgun or anyone know someone getting rid of one?
