what do you carry? I like looking for arrowheads and rocks, so I wear a 5.11 vest, with a bottle of H2O, GPS, Phone, Bug Cream, Knife, Pointy screwdriver, Trioxane Bar, Lighter. I think that's all. Pick up a good sized rock for the rock garden, and I'm whooped by the time I get home.

It depends on how far im going, but just for a short hike, small backpack with water, poncho, firestarter, cliff bars, cell phone, bugspray, and knives of coures, usually one on my belt and one in my pack.

I always carry a pistol with me too...usually G17 and sometimes Ruger MK III .22 too.

Summertime I will carry extra water.

I carry a lot of gear if I'm going for 4 miles or more.

I'm working on a kit as we speak for shorter jaunts.

I'll do a little work-up and review when I'm done.

Hmm, I always have a lighter, phone, keys, wallet, jewelry, folder and whatever clothes I am wearing.

Generally I carry a sidearm, mags, Koster Bushcraft, h2o, flashlight, ferro rod, pocket sharpening steel, laptop(and charger), digi camera, few pens, magazine, tiny Bible and files that are in my work bag. It is usually close at hand and I just take out the PC and charger etc.

All that stuff kinda disapears in the bag. The firesteel and sharpener slip in pen slots. The rest has dedicated spots in the bag. Its a TAD Gear dispatch model.

Usually a pack containing my water, dog's water, lunch, a sweater, gps/map, flashlight, camera, and of course a knife(size depending on how many people I expect to see on the trail). I usually mean to carry a small survival/first aid kit but it is usually forgotten in the truck.

I take a knife, some cordage, compass, fire starting equipment, drier lint, small bottle of hand sanitizer, water purification bottle, space blanket, a leatherman, a can of some kind of food, small sharpening stone, a candle, flashlight w/ extra batteries, and some other knick knacks. It all fits well in my gerber version of a camel back.

Oh, my zipper pull is a compass. I noticed a crack in the plastic though and it should probably be replaced.

I forgot to mention my favorite companion. You guys got the right idea.
