What the subject says - how does proxy purchasing work?
Say your fortunate enough to find some kind person who is willing to proxy for you, what are the mechanics of proxy buying?
Do you just put funds in the proxy's account (e.g. paypal) and then give them a shopping list?
Or does it work some other way?
Does the proxy phone/email before making a purchase?

I have no idea how it works, but would like to find out. At some point, I envisage I'd like to find a proxy (probably be the only way to get a NMSFNO or a FSH at a reasonable price) and am curious how it all works.

It works in whatever fashion you and your proxy agree on.

At BLADE Atlanta I proxied for two people - one, I knew in advance he wanted a specific thing, and so I went in looking for it. Another saw the pictures of the black-handled BD and posted during show weekend in the forums that he wished he was at the show and able to get one, so I offered to pick it up for him. In both cases, I didn't ask for any money until after I had picked up the knives, but they were also pretty cheap knives. The mechanics of that agreement might change for more expensive blades. Really, though, it's between you and your proxy.

I'm just hoping I've built enough karma with doing little favors for other Dogs that I'll be able to find my own proxy before the show. That desert sand SJTAC needs to come home to Daddy

I really like the Desert Sand SJTAC as well... the only problem is I already have multiple SJTACs and don't really need another.
Or do I?

I think I do.

Hopefully there will be some cool stuff at Knob Creek next month.

How does one find a proxy MM? I know they don't want folks starting posts here to ask for one so how would i go about finding one? Just curious...

If I knew the answer to that question, I'd already have my proxy lined up :-D. The few tomes I've proxied, I noticed someone asking about a knife, and PMed that person to ask if they wanted a proxy. | | |

Thanks Bruce! Well, it looks like MM and myself are both wanting a desert SJTAC. I suppose if I can't get a proxy, my wallet will thank me. But, I would rather have the knife if possible. Good luck MM!

I'm hoping I can find a proxy but I don't know if I really want anything. Probably the only thing I know for a fact that I would want is a black or brown handled Scrap Muk. I might be in for 2 if these actually show up.
