Gazing at the Bird Dogs at Blade West, they impressed me as a sleeper "kit knife" base for tweeking a small knife in a big-little combo. Dogfather for large, modded BD for small -- Sweet!!

Here's one quick idea I Photochopped from the Bird Dog for a semi-square-nosed reduction of the swept tip of the standard version. The cropped tip is much in the style of the Chinese dao knives I've seen. You can see the amount of the tip I removed in the picture.

I think a drop-point reduction would also make a very handy little knife offering the security of the Mudder handle.

I really like those knives...wish I could find one...
The secondary market is a little high for me...

I wouldn't clip the point though...for my purposes...

Welcome to the Yard RokJok. Everyone raves about the BD I picked up a Black handled one at BW. I do wish it was a little skinnier though.

Welcome Rok Jok, the drop point idea of yours reminds me of one that Scrap Yard did called the Mud Puppy. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

A bit fatter and able to take a bit more abuse due to its shape,it is a great knife!
I wear mine frequently! But the Bird and Muk combo are hard for me to stop carrying daily. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Peace.

Welcome to the Yard, RokJok. While I'm the last one that should lecture anybody about doing mods, if I were you, I'd leave that Bird Dog as is and get a Mud Puppy! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

The BD is one of my favorite Yard blades, good for a lot of chores.
