I don't have a SOD but I have a bunch of others and the DF is a great knife. Heavy Duty chopper.

I have the DFLE and the extra size does make a difference....the SOD is a great chopper, but the DF is a better chopper cause of the size.

I have both a SoD and a DF, and the DF definitely chops better - the question to ask yourself is whether you need it to chop better.
I honestly don't do much all-out chopping with big knives - for me, the most common use of a big knife is brush clearing / limbing, and batoning. For both of those, extra length is useful, but not as useful as it is for pure chopping.
I have mulled over selling either the SoD or the Dogfather, or even both, because I've got a lot of knives around those sizes. So far, I've decided to hang onto them, but they don't really do that much differently from other big knives I have. The main thing making me hang onto them is those sweet, sweet res-c handles.

That being said I have not been able to pull the trigger on a DF, and they had them for $140 at BW. The SOD and Regulator are a bit smaller but work for what I need them to do. Maybe some day I'll pull that trigger, but for now I don't need a big chopper.

I own both and find the DF more enjoyable , I can get a lot more side leverage from it, which I needed a few times, try to find one at a good price, even if its marked up a little its a good buy,

I suppose it also depends on what you want to do with it. if you want a chopper go with the DF. if you want a camp knife the SOD is great. if you have tons of cash pick up a BattleMistress. a limit budget stick with the SOD.
