How about one of these.....
http://www.coldsteel.com/80ft.html

OK - I was going to go to bed...

I used to be a huge CS fan, but I am NOT one any longer. Not because of the hype or the Stryder war, just because I've found a couple of companies (SYKO, Ranger, and Busse) that MAKE THEIR OWN KNIVES and sell them to a very loyal customer base, at reasonable prices (well... Busse has a unique market! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> ). I have like 8 Cold Steel blades, but I don't respect them the same way as I do Dan, Justin, or Jerry.

Nice steel for the money, but I no longer spend mine on their stuff.

Goodnight all, for real... for real... !!!

If you want a CS, try to score one of the Carbon V knives. Carbon V is going the way of the dodo, never to be seen again.

I almost bought a bushman, but I heard the metal was a little soft for throwing(as in a spearhead), so I changed my mind.

AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have the Bushman, its very sharp, check out the test at knifetests.com - pretty impressive for a cheap blade.

The GI Tanto will be tough as nails - probably as tough as a strider knife - Les Thompson is no dummy, he will kind of undercut Strider with that knife - all the more power to him.

I have a CS Oyabun in Carbon V - its hands down the sharpest big knife that I own.

I have nothing bad to say about Cold Steel knives, I just prefer to have a "relationship" with my knifemaker, instead of buying knives from a guy that farms out his production.

Goodnight.

The Bushman is by far the best bang for the buck knife CS makes. I don't know about CS's heat treatment but 1095 steel is pretty tough. As for the quality of the Bushman for a spear head, you should go here and watch the videos:

Knife Test Videos

It is nice to be able to talk or IM your knife maker, it gives your knife such a personal touch that makes it all the better..
