My daughter who had moved out has been staying with us this week. She brought her varmints with her, two gerbels and this little hound puppy. So now I have this dog all day while Bonnie is at work or in class. I have a feeling that somehow this dog will be staying with me while Bonnie is off in the Air Force in a few months. Oh, joy. I'm not really a dog person, but the puppy seems to be behaving pretty well. Now I have some company on my walks. The little pup is afraid of even a baby raccoon. But she has taken a keen interest in squirrels. Hmm. Maybe I can get some use out this little varmint after all. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/puppy002.jpg)

He's cute Vic...A little hiking companion maybe? Strap your big choppers to him and use him as your sherpa/llama/whatever.

Cute pup for sure.
I bet if the puppy had the big choppers, they would be just dragging the ground.

Well, the puppy and I got along pretty well today. She sure likes my beef stew. Only let her have a bit. She gets puppy chow mostly. She walks well on a leash, once I figured out that she likes being on the left. I think Bonnie has done a pretty good job so far in training the pup. As I said, I am not really a dog person, but I did have a great squirrel hunting dog as a youth. I think this one might do well. I think we will get along just fine when Bonnie is away.

Vic - that is one cute pup! Looks like some type of beagle cross? She should be a great companion for you!

I just wish she would learn how to do her running around outside. I have some grinding to do this week. I'll keep her outside with me. She will chase a pine cone when I throw it but she doesn't bring it back. She chews it to shreds. I don't know what she is. She has long legs and is very fast. Bonnie said she was part Italian Greyhound. I just call her "Varmint". She is quite friendly. All my usual wildlife visitors are on edge. Especially the rabbit. Now I can say, "Release the hounds".

hehe better watch it HD ... they grow on ya.... i have to retrain mine to actualy bark at the mail man now... they keep giving them treats. i would be lost with out my fur balls. i have slowly been teaching myself how to deal with em and train em. oddly the dog whisper stuff works out pretty well. hehe and yes now you can say release the hounds! haha cute little fella , would be great in the woods with ya for sure... i would try to track down the breed and also what behaviors she displays naturaly... and play to her strenghts... the one really cool thing is that dogs are an instant marker for human feeling... if your nervous they will be... just be calm and assertive and normaly they act pretty good.... be nervious and they will kinda freak out too...
hope ya have fun man....
