I remember those days of dial-up.
On forums 56 was almost as fast as cable, but back then they didn't have many pictures on these forums

I remrmber when I first got back from Japan (1991) I had a computer built. I had a FEW bulletin boards I went to, Even had my own for a little while. Thought it was really neat, I had Lotus Organizer to call the bbs for me and then logged on, OH GLORY DAY (hope they never come back)!

Yes, I was determined, excited, and having fun! Swamp Rat was the first forum I ever joined, and as I was pretty new to computers and the internet I just didn't really get into it. Then Dan started Scrap Yard, and I found a home! I have really enjoyed carrying on discussions with fellow Dogs - sometimes on the phone as well. I look forward to the Blade show in Atlanta as the chance to meet so many fellow Dogs, and of course the Busse crews. To me that is as much draw as all the rest of the show!

Tom, that is the most verbose I have ever seen you on this forum! I would like to get up to Atlanta and meet you and other Dogs.

Carrying on a conversation with a few fellow Dogs really helps! I was also watching the "race" between Gravelface and a couple of other Dogs, and sneaking in on the JYD #1 spot whenever I could!

Tom is very right about carrying on a conversation and hitting a high number of posts. This is why you will see me ask the JYD's to help newer Dogs reach their goals. In addition, and more importantly it gets folks over the apprehension or fear of posting. No one will take a serious shot at you on this forum...not permitted They may joke and pull your leg a bit, like me and the "two week quote" This is a brotherhood and we support each other regardless of knowledge, taste or even ability to write...we all get it,,,we like knives

I will admit that Tom was on a mission and we really did find out about his competitive side

Dan

Dan - please remember that I had the SLOWEST internet service of ANYONE in the Yard! I HAD to be creative in order to try to run with all of the fast Dogs!

No kidding. I am still not sure how you got the internet to connect over those two tin cans and a string. Clearly you are one determined Dog

I am really glad you set the standard

Dan

I wonder if any of the young guys are going "Tin cans and string?"

The patch is definitely something special, and I will proudly wear mine at Blade next year. This forum has made the internet fun for me and I really enjoy the discussions with my fellow Dogs. We can all thank Dan for providing this meeting place and keeping it great. I think we have the perfect tri-fecter here
1) A forum owner that wants the forum for the right reasons (and abides by his own rules)
2) Strong but fair moderators that use their authority intelligently and respectfully
3) Mature members that are determined to do the right thing by the forum

When we slip the items above allow us to recover and move on

I totally agree with you CBC. Since this forum was started we have had very few real problems. Usually a "suggestion" is enough to get us back on the right course, and I can tell you that we Moderators genuinely appreciate that fact. It's really nice to go on a forum without a lot of fighting, etc., and instead foster a sense of Brotherhood and willingness to help each other. That is why I have said so many times that I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!
